Reiki is simply a relaxing treatment where natural healing vibrations are transmitted through the hands of a Reiki practitioner (acting as a conduit) to the body of the recipient. This in turn opens the body’s energy channels, increasing blood flow to the treated areas. The purpose of a Reiki treatment is to relieve stress and pain, induce relaxation, release emotional blockages, accelerate natural healing, balance subtle energies of the body, and support other medical modalities including traditional therapies.

Reiki can be easily learned and practiced to strengthen well-being and enhance quality of life. Unlike most other touch healing systems, it is one of the few forms of healing that can be used both on yourself and others.

Reiki is an ancient healing technique which was rediscovered in Japan in 1922 by Dr. Mikao Usui. "Reiki" is the Japanese word for the concept of Universal Life Force Energy. While in the process of developing the Reiki system, Dr. Usui summarized a set of ethical principles, which later became known as The 5 Principles of Reiki, taken from Buddhist teachings.

Today, in hospitals and clinics across America, Reiki is beginning to gain acceptance as a meaningful and cost-effective way to improve patient care. This healing form of energy movement is being used in hospitals throughout the Tri-State and the country. Reiki accelerates recovery from surgery, improves mental attitude and reduces the negative effects of medication and other medical procedures.
